People have asked me about how to meditate so I wrote quite extensively about that in my book Coffee with God. Then they came to me and asked what they should meditate on, and hence this book which gives suggestions for each day of the year. I believe that as Christians we should... always ground our meditating in the Scriptures and so for all the thoughts I've suggested, and all of which are designed to remind us of God's constant Presence with us, I have also given a couple of Bible readings relevant to the suggestion. There has also been added for each day a place for you to make notes of what appeared to be important in your time with God. This can also be used in following years (after you finish your meditation) to look back on and see if maybe God is saying something new to you through those same readings. TERRY was a practising lawyer for 25 years before answering a call into the ordained ministry in the Anglican Church of Southern Africa. As a Priest he spent time as a Prison Chaplain as well as a Hospital Chaplain before being appointed to parish ministry. He is now retired from full-time ministry, lives in New Zealand and spends his spare time writing novels. This is Terry's fourth religious book and he hopes to write at least a few more.

Over the plains of Armenia towers Mount Ararat, on which, the Bible states, Noah's Ark rested after the flood. Here also is the traditional si...te of the Garden of Eden, and the four rivers that Genesis describes as rising in the Garden still flow through the land. Sitting astride an arm of the Silk Route, Armenia has been invaded and occupied at various times by Assyria, Babylonia, Persia, Greece, and the Seljuk Turks, to name but a few. In the fifth century, Armenia became the first country in the world to adopt Christianity as its national religion. Therefore, even a short outline of Armenian folklore and poetry must acknowledge the influences that have served to shape Armenian literature. These influences reflect the interwoven remnants of an intricate tapestry of ancient and modern cultures, legends, songs, and fragments of epics, creating a unique cultural and linguistic identity. Severed for many centuries from Western Europe by a flood of invasions, Armenian literature has not had the recognition that it deserves. In this volume, which is a mere sampler of Armenian literature, you will find poetry and laments that equal those of Shakespeare in their zeal and fervour. You will also find folk-songs that weep tears for the fate of Armenia, that cry out for freedom and liberty, that burst with the love of a woman for her man and of nightingales singing to babes in cradles. You will also find the key legends of Armenia-of Vahagn, King of Armenia, deified on account of his valour, of Princess Santoukhd, martyred by her father King Sanadroug for becoming a Christian, of Semiramis' love for Ara, so strong that she thought she could will him back to life. So curl up with this unique and exquisite piece of literature and be swept away by the passion of fourteen hundred years of Armenian poetry. A percentage of the net sale from this b

All people in the world tell nursery tales to their children. The Japanese tell them, the Chinese, the American Indians and the Eskimos to pass the long wintry nights. Native South Africans tell them, Greeks, as did the old Egyptians, when Moses had not long been rescued out of t...he bulrushes. The Germans, French, Spanish, Italians, Danes and Highlanders tell them, and the stories are apt to be like each other everywhere. A child who has read the Blue and Red and Yellow Fairy Books will, if he or she examines and compares, find some old friends with new faces in the Pink Fairy Book. But the Japanese tales will probably be new to many; the Tanuki is a creature whose acquaintance few have made before. There are also tales from Sicily, Catalonia, Sweden, Denmark and Africa. Tales of monsters and mermaids, princes and giants, and beautiful princesses, who are, if possible, always prettier than ever. Here, then, are fancies brought from all quarters: we see that the peoples of the world, no matter their origin, are fond of just the same kinds of adventures. Courage, youth, beauty, kindness, have many trials, but they always win the battle; while witches, giants, unfriendly cruel people, are on the losing hand. So it ought to be, and so, on the whole, it is and will be; and that is all the moral of fairy tales. We cannot all be young, alas! and pretty, and strong; but nothing prevents us from being kind, and no kind man, woman, or beast or bird, ever comes to anything but good in these oldest fables of the world. So far all the tales are true, and no further. So find a comfy chair and sit back and enjoy these tales from yesteryear in the knowledge that the purchase of this book has helped raise funds for charity.
