Who could imagine that finding a suitable pair of football boots would prove almost impossible for women and girls in the 1970s? The focus of the women's liberation movement was fought in the streets, in universities, in workplaces and in the home. We add the football field to th...ese sites of protest and empowerment for individual women. We follow the Australian and New Zealand national players - schoolgirls, factory workers, university graduates and professionals - as they navigate the male-dominated world of football. This book never shies away from the uncomfortable aspects of their journeys, uncovering stories of vulnerability and strength, sexual harassment as well as sexual awakening, personal vilification as well as celebration, giving voice to a silencing in sport. Written by historian Dr Marion Stell, in collaboration with football identity Heather Reid AM, this enlivened account is told with honesty, pain and humour.

Dorothy Graham is dead, which is inconvenient, not least for her. Luckily, she has planned for this eventuality. Now, if any of the truly dreadful people she is related to want to get their hands on her money, they're going to have to do so via a fiendish difficult and frankly bi...zarre competition of Dorothy's devising. After all, just because you're dead, it doesn't mean you can't enjoy a last laugh at the expense of people who made your life miserable. Paul Mulchrone, to his unending credit, is neither related to Dorothy or happy that she is dead; What he is however is a contestant in this competition whether he likes it or not, which he definitely doesn't. He and his off-again on-again girlfriend, the formidable Brigit, are supposed to be running MCM Investigations, a detective agency. Instead, they have to go into battle against Dorothy's bloodsucking relatives. As if that wasn't enough, they get hired by the aforementioned dead woman to find out who killed her.

Parnassus on Wheels is a 1917 novel written by Christopher Morley. The title refers to the Mount Parnassus of Greek mythology; it was the home of the Muses. Parnassus on Wheels is Morley's first novel, about a fictional traveling book-selling business. The original owner of the b...usiness, Roger Mifflin, sells it to 39-year-old Helen McGill, who is tired of taking care of her older brother, Andrew. Andrew is a former businessman turned farmer, turned author. As an author, he begins using the farm as his Muse rather than a livelihood. When Mifflin shows up with his traveling bookstore, Helen buys it--partly to prevent Andrew from buying it--and partly to treat herself to a long-overdue adventure of her own. The first of two novels to be written from a woman's perspective, as well as the prequel to a later novel (The Haunted Bookshop), Parnassus on Wheels was inspired by David Grayson's novel, The Friendly Road, and starts with an open letter to Grayson, taking him to task for not concerning himself (except in passing) with his sister's opinion of and reaction to his adventure. Two siblings. Two brilliant talents. But only one Mozart. Born with a gift for music, Nannerl Mozart has just one wish--to be remembered forever. But even as she delights audiences with her masterful playing, she has little hope she'll ever become the acclaimed composer she longs... to be. She is a young woman in 18th century Europe, and that means composing is forbidden to her. She will perform only until she reaches a marriageable age--her tyrannical father has made that much clear. And as Nannerl's hope grows dimmer with each passing year, the talents of her beloved younger brother, Wolfgang, only seem to shine brighter. His brilliance begins to eclipse her own, until one day a mysterious stranger from a magical land appears with an irresistible offer. He has the power to make her wish come true--but his help may cost her everything. In her first work of historical fiction, #1 New York Times bestselling author Marie Lu spins a lush, lyrically-told story of music, magic, and the unbreakable bond between a brother and sister.

They seemed out of place among the families enjoying summer holidays at Wellington's Days Bay. Some of the women at the Bay thought that one day Harry would commit a mu...rder.

The Government's occupation of Parihaka on 5 th November, 1881, was an inevitable consequence of Te Whiti creating aquasi-republic which refused to recognise the sovereignty of the Crown, or the laws of the land. That the occupation was achieved peacefully was as much a tribute t...o the restraint of Te Whiti and Tohu, as to the decision of the Government to arrive with overwhelming force so as to deter any ideas of resistance. This book explains the complicated land situation in Taranaki which led to war and confiscation, and narrates the rise of Te Whiti and Parihaka - the tensions between him and the settlers, and the Government's failed efforts to resolve the situation. It also covers the later years of the prophets Te Whiti and Tohu and the dispute which marred their lives, culminating in the decline of Te Whiti's influence as his prophecies failed to materialise. Ultimately this influence was replaced by the Young Maori Party of Apirana Ngata who worked for assimilation with European ways.
