Reveals an Emerging Avenue of Potential Treatments for a Host of Challenging Diseases and Disorders The H3 receptor is known to play a major role in a range of CNS disorders, including those affecting cognitive functions such as ADHD and Alzheimer's disease, as well as sleep diso...rders, obesity, epilepsy, schizophrenia, depression, and neurodegeneration. In light of dramatic advances in research at the molecular level, supported by impressive clinical studies, optimism remains high that an H3 receptor-related drug could hit the market soon. The Third Histamine Receptor: Selective Ligands as Potential Therapeutic Agents in CNS Disorders provides a thorough grounding in advances made over the last two decades. It brings together an elite group of 30 pioneering researchers. In writing about their own work, these scientists report on the cutting-edge investigations that are now being conducted across a variety of disciplines. This text is designed to aid researchers and inform those involved in the treatment and clinical aspects of a number of histamine-related diseases. Presents Several Disease-Specific Chapters Certainly, the most comprehensive and cutting-edge volume in the field, this text includes material drawn from groundbreaking research techniques and patent literature. Put together with great thought and passion, it is written to serve as a primary resource for anyone involved with or interested in the identification and localization of H3 receptors and the ligands being developed as therapeutic agents to treat a wide range of diseases including some that were once considered intractable.

Principles of Anatomy according to the Opinion of Galen is a translation of Johann Guinter's textbook as revised and annotated by Guinter's student, Andreas Vesalius, in 1538. Despite Vesalius' fame as an anatomist, his 1538 revision has attracted almost no attention. However, th...is new translation shows the significant rewrites and additional information added to the original based on his own dissections. 250 newly discovered annotations by Vesalius himself, published here in full for the first time, also show his working methods and ideas. Together they offer remarkable insights into Vesalius' intellectual biography and the development of his most famous work: De humani corporis fabrica, 1543. An extensive introduction by Vivian Nutton also provides new information on Johann Guinter, and his substantial use of Vesalius' work for his own revised version of the text in 1539. Their joint production, a student textbook, is set against a background of the development of Renaissance anatomy, and of attitudes to their ancient Greek predecessor, Galen of Pergamum. This text will be of great interest to historians of science and medicine, as well as to Renaissance scholars.

The use of IVM in assisted reproductive technology continues to increase around the world. The major benefit of IVM is that significant numbers of oocytes can be collected from ovaries without recourse to ovarian stimulation. This reduces the costs, time, and risks associated wit...h conventional IVF. Although initially limited to women with polycystic ovary syndrome who were at higher risk of problems following ovarian stimulation, IVM is increasingly used in women with normal ovulatory menstrual cycles. This authoritative text covers the current scientific knowledge of oocyte development and the understanding behind the techniques involved in the clinical application of IVM in assisted reproductive technologies.
