Mother, wife, partner, daughter, sister, niece, grandmother: every woman is a VICTRESS in her own unique and special way. This book is an ode to some of Australia's most cherished female athletes who, not just through achievements in their chosen sport, but through their unwaveri...ng conviction and commitment to women's sport, blazed a trail for their sisterhood. From legends like Dawn Fraser and Cathy Freeman, to the new breed of powerful sportswomen like Ellyse Perry, Tayla Harris and Ash Barty, each athlete is honoured and celebrated, thanks to Hobart Hurricanes Women's Big Bash League cricketer Corinne Hall's unique artistic talents. Inspired by these incredible women, Corinne takes readers on a journey into the lives of each athlete through both her stunning drawings and her authentic tales. From personal interactions with the athletes, to recalling where she was when watching some of the iconic events that made them household names, Corinne provides a fresh but relatable perspective on how each has left an indelible mark on the exponential growth of sport for women. Kindness is key for Corinne, who has ensured funds from the book will be directed back into grassroots women's cricket, along with helping charitable organisation, The Kindness Factory, spread its positive message. In keeping with the kindness theme, athletes have provided their own stories of kindness, unearthing the special role simple acts have played in their lives.

Life on the Streets tells the stories of the homeless or those working on the streets. Learn why people end up homeless or have turned to prostitution. While writing this book, I said to a friend that for me to really write a good book about being homeless, I needed to be homeles...s, not thinking for a minute that this would happen to me. However, my life took a bad turn and I was descending in a downward spiral. This is the true story of homeless people from both New Zealand and Australia. It also incorporates my life, from living in a house, to being evicted, to living on a bus, and then moving to Australia with my kids, and having nothing but $280 to my name. I lived in an elaborate six-bedroom home in Australia with a friend who eventually ripped me off, kicking me and my kids out. I had nowhere to go and didn't know what to do. Organisations offered assistance with temporary accommodation in a motel and a backpackers' residence, where I lived with my kids for eight months. My memoir shows that life can change in an instant and without warning. It presents a rollercoaster of life's ups and downs that I endured to get to where I am now, pursuing a meaningful life on the Gold Coast. (About the Author) Kim O'Brien-Williams grew up in Brighton, a small beach town just outside Dunedin, New Zealand. She is currently a chef working on the Gold Coast of Queensland, Australia. This is her second book and was inspired by meeting a homeless man who told her his life story.

When Robert Imbeault began writing this book, he did so with the intention of ending his life once the book was finished. Robert was in the midst of a five-year suicidal drug and alcohol binge that began after the sudden resurfacing of a buried memory from when he was eight years... old. Robert turned to writing, determined to chronicle his life before and after the violent encounter that shattered his reality. As his life inched back toward normalcy, Robert found new reasons to keep writing. After a series of small steps forward, and a few steps back, Robert found his way to sobriety. He regained his health and began to treat himself and everyone around him with love and kindness. Today, Robert enjoys a life filled with gratitude and joy he thought he'd never live to see. In Before I Leave You, he shares his real and raw account of how he clawed his way back from the brink, forgave himself, and wrote a new ending to his story.

The story of how an unknown young girl in Sweden, with her family at her side, became the leader of an international movement When climate activist Greta Thunberg was eleven, her parents Malena and Svante, and her little sister Beata, were facing a crisis in their own home. Greta... had stopped eating and speaking, and her mother and father had reconfigured their lives to care for her. Desperate and searching for answers, her parents discovered what was at the heart of Greta's distress: her imperiled future on a rapidly heating planet. Steered by Greta's determination to understand the truth and generate change, they began to see the deep connections between their own suffering and the planet's. Written by a remarkable family and told through the voice of an iconoclastic mother, Our House Is on Fire is the story of how they fought their problems at home by taking global action. And it is the story of how Greta decided to go on strike from school, igniting a worldwide rebellion.
