Advances in smart healthcare systems (SHS) and artificial intelligence (AI) domains highlight the need for ICT systems that aim not only to improve human quality of life but improve safety too. SHS bring together concepts and methodologies from various fields, such as communicati...ons and network systems, computer science, life sciences and healthcare. The well-known smart healthcare paradigms are; real-time monitoring devices, computer-aided surgery devices, telemedicine devices, population-based care devices, personalized medicine from a machine learning perspective, ubiquities intelligent computing, expert decision support systems, Health 2.0 and Internet of Things (IoT). This book presents models for the deployment of intelligent computing, information, and networking technologies to aid in preventing disease, improving the quality of care and lowering overall cost. It also discusses the potential role of the AI paradigms, computational intelligence and machine learning techniques which are used in developing the SHS. It will provide examples of potential usage of such technology in smart healthcare and and bio-medical systems. It will be an important read for researchers and professionals working in smart healthcare systems, as well as those working in the individual areas of networks, artificial intelligence and healthcare who want to see how an interdisciplinary approach can enhance the current technology.

Offering compelling practical and legal reasons why de-identification should be one of the main approaches to protecting patients' privacy, the Guide to the De-Identification of Personal Health Information outlines a proven, risk-based methodology for the de-identification of sen...sitive health information. It situates and contextualizes this risk-based methodology and provides a general overview of its steps. The book supplies a detailed case for why de-identification is important as well as best practices to help you pin point when it is necessary to apply de-identification in the disclosure of personal health information. It also: Outlines practical methods for de-identification Describes how to measure re-identification risk Explains how to reduce the risk of re-identification Includes proofs and supporting reference material Focuses only on transformations proven to work on health information-rather than covering all possible approaches, whether they work in practice or not Rated the top systems and software engineering scholar worldwide by The Journal of Systems and Software, Dr. El Emam is one of only a handful of individuals worldwide qualified to de-identify personal health information for secondary use under the HIPAA Privacy Rule Statistical Standard. In this book Dr. El Emam explains how we can make health data more accessible-while protecting patients' privacy and complying with current regulations.

Despite increasing scholarly attention to artificial intelligence (AI), studies at the intersection of AI and communication remain ripe for exploration, including investigations of the social, political, cultural, and ethical aspects of machine intelligence, interactions among ag...ents, and social artifacts. This book tackles these unexplored research areas with special emphasis on conditions, components, and consequences of cognitive, attitudinal, affective, and behavioural dimensions toward communication and AI. In doing so, this book epitomizes communication, journalism and media scholarship on AI and its social, political, cultural, and ethical perspectives. Topics vary widely from interactions between humans and robots through news representation of AI and AI-based news credibility to privacy and value toward AI in the public sphere. Contributors from such countries as Brazil, Netherland, South Korea, Spain, and United States discuss important issues and challenges in AI and communication studies. The collection of chapters in the book considers implications for not only theoretical and methodological approaches, but policymakers and practitioners alike. The chapters in this book were originally published as a special issue of Communication Studies.

To facilitate communication, people uses virtual meeting environment in everyday lives with the help of global online social networks (OSNs) in recent years. These networks help users to find novel friends and buildup their links worldwide. Moreover, sharing of information and th...oughts are important features of OSNs. Users can share photos, recent activities, videos, interests, applications and much more with the help of the OSNs. The rate of using OSNs has increased rapidly in the recent years. OSNs like Google+, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Sina Weibo, VKontakte, and Mixi have become the preferred way of communication for billions of daily active users. Users spend maximum time to update their contents, communicate with early users and browse other's account to find certain information which is the main implication of social network websites. OSN can eliminate the geographical and economical barriers between the users for the communication and information sharing. Due to this, it has become a fascinating test bed for numerous cyber-attacks comprising Cross-Site Scripting, SQL injection, DDoS, phishing, spamming, fake profile, spammer etc. This book entitled Online Social Networks Security: Principles, Algorithm, Applications, and Perspectives elaborates on various attacks with classifications, countermeasures and consequences. It also highlights some key contributions related to current defensive approaches of various attacks on OSNs. Moreover, it represents machine learning and deep learning-based approaches to militate against various attacks on OSNs. Moreover, different technological solutions are also discussed that have been proposed so far against OSNs based attacks. The contributions of the topics, methodologies and results included in this book will educate readers towards the importance of incentives in any technical solution to handle attacks against OSNs. The best practices and guidelines will showcase how to implement various attack mitigation methodol

In the modern world most gross product is created within Enterprise firms; project programs; state agencies; transnational corporations and their divisions, as well as various associations and compositions of all of the above entities. Enterprises being, on the one hand, complex,... and, on the other hand, widespread systems, are in the focus of cybernetics, system theory, operations research, management sciences and many other fields of knowledge. However, the complexity of the system obstructs the development of mathematically rigorous foundations for Enterprise control. Moreover, methods of operations research and related sciences, widely used in practice, provide optimization of constituents of an Enterprise, without modeling it as a whole system. But the optimization of parts does not lead to the optimality of the whole, and also the absence of top-down and holistic mathematical models of Enterprise contradicts the principle of holism and the system approach. The approach in this book looks firstly at Enterprise Systems, and their essential aspects, as complex sociotechnical systems composed of integrated sets of structural and process models (Chapter 1 and 2). A uniform description of all the heterogeneous fields of the modern Enterprise (marketing, sales, manufacturing, HR, finance, etc.) is then made and the Enterprise Control Problem is posed as a top-down and holistic mathematical optimization problem (Chapter 3). Original models and methods of contract theory (Chapter 4), technology management (Chapter 5), human behavior and human capital (Chapter 6), complex activity and resource planning (Chapter 7) are developed to solve the problem. Structural, processes and mathematical models constitute Optimal Enterprise Control Framework (Chapter 8) that provides a practical solution to the Enterprise Control Problem. The book will be a valuable resource for Postgraduate and Doctoral students, Postdoctoral researchers, Professors with the research interests in the fi
