Do modern programming languages, IDEs and libraries make coding easy? Maybe, but coding is not design. Large-scale or expensive apps clearly require evaluation of design choices. Still, software design directly impacts code reuse and longevity even for small-scale apps with limit...ed overhead. This text evaluates and contrast common object-oriented designs. A given problem may have many solutions. A developer may employ different design techniques - composition, inheritance, dependency injection, delegation, etc. - to solve a particular problem. A skilled developer can determine the costs and benefits of different design responses, even amid competing concerns. A responsible developer documents design choices as a contract with the client, delineating external and internal responsibilities. To promote effective software design, this book examines contractual, object-oriented designs for immediate and sustained use as well as code reuse. The intent of identifying design variants is to recognize and manage conflicting goals such as: short versus long-term utility, stability versus flexibility, storage versus computation. Many examples are given to evaluate and contrast different solutions, and to compare C# and C++ effects. No one has a crystal ball. However, deliberate design promotes software longevity. With the prominence of legacy OO code, a clear understanding of different object-oriented designs is essential. Design questions abound. Is code reuse better with inheritance or composition? Should composition rely on complete encapsulation? Design choices impact flexibility, efficiency, stability, longevity and reuse. Yet, compilers do not enforce design and syntax does not necessarily illustrate design. Through deliberate design, or redesign when refactoring, developers construct sustainable, efficient code.

Explanatory Model Analysis Explore, Explain and Examine Predictive Models is a set of methods and tools designed to build better predictive models and to monitor their behaviour in a changing environment. Today, the true bottleneck in predictive modelling is neither the lack of d...ata, nor the lack of computational power, nor inadequate algorithms, nor the lack of flexible models. It is the lack of tools for model exploration (extraction of relationships learned by the model), model explanation (understanding the key factors influencing model decisions) and model examination (identification of model weaknesses and evaluation of model's performance). This book presents a collection of model agnostic methods that may be used for any black-box model together with real-world applications to classification and regression problems.

In the modern world most gross product is created within Enterprise firms; project programs; state agencies; transnational corporations and their divisions, as well as various associations and compositions of all of the above entities. Enterprises being, on the one hand, complex,... and, on the other hand, widespread systems, are in the focus of cybernetics, system theory, operations research, management sciences and many other fields of knowledge. However, the complexity of the system obstructs the development of mathematically rigorous foundations for Enterprise control. Moreover, methods of operations research and related sciences, widely used in practice, provide optimization of constituents of an Enterprise, without modeling it as a whole system. But the optimization of parts does not lead to the optimality of the whole, and also the absence of top-down and holistic mathematical models of Enterprise contradicts the principle of holism and the system approach. The approach in this book looks firstly at Enterprise Systems, and their essential aspects, as complex sociotechnical systems composed of integrated sets of structural and process models (Chapter 1 and 2). A uniform description of all the heterogeneous fields of the modern Enterprise (marketing, sales, manufacturing, HR, finance, etc.) is then made and the Enterprise Control Problem is posed as a top-down and holistic mathematical optimization problem (Chapter 3). Original models and methods of contract theory (Chapter 4), technology management (Chapter 5), human behavior and human capital (Chapter 6), complex activity and resource planning (Chapter 7) are developed to solve the problem. Structural, processes and mathematical models constitute Optimal Enterprise Control Framework (Chapter 8) that provides a practical solution to the Enterprise Control Problem. The book will be a valuable resource for Postgraduate and Doctoral students, Postdoctoral researchers, Professors with the research interests in the fi

New technologies mean that sports clubs and governing bodies are generating more data than ever to help manage their relationship with fans, performance, and income streams. This new edition of Winning with Data in the Business of Sports explains how to acquire, store, maintain, ...and use data in the most effective ways. The key developments are three-fold: new technology, new understanding of how to apply that technology, and the new laws informing and controlling the data that can be generated from the technology. Important developments that have occurred since the publication of the first edition include the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and the Covid-19 pandemic. With a focus on these unique challenges coupled with the opportunities the use of data creates, this book is essential reading for professionals within the sports industry. This second edition includes: - An introduction to new technologies, the data they generate, and the supporting processes we need to have in place to use them. - Brand new case studies with recent examples of creative applications from clubs, teams, leagues, and governing bodies, including Arsenal, AS Roma, ICC Cricket World Cup, LA Kings, Portland Trail Blazers, and UEFA, . - The sports industry's response to tighter data legislation introduced primarily though the GDPR. - The role of data and direct engagement during the Covid-19 pandemic. The book provides clear guidance and knowledge that sports industry professionals need to understand the role of data for the business side of sports. It is essential reading for sports clubs, governing bodies and those working in sports marketing, media and communications, sponsorship, merchandise, ticketing, events, and participation development. The book will also be of interest to students of sports management.

The digital medical images play a vital role in a human life. Medical imaging is the process of producing visible images of inner structures of the body for scientific and medicinal study and treatment as well as a visible view of the function of interior tissues. This process pu...rsues the disorder identification and management. The medical imaging in 2D & 3D includes many types of techniques and operations such as image gaining, storage, presentation, and communication. The 2D and 3D images can be processed in multiple dimensions. Depending on the requirement for solving a specific problem, one has to identify various features of two dimensional or three-dimensional images while applying suitable algorithms. The image processing techniques were founded in the 1960s. Those techniques were used for different fields such as Space, clinical purposes, arts, and TV image improvement. In the 1970s with the development of computer system, the cost of image processing became less and faster. In the 2000s, the image processing became quicker, inexpensive, and simpler. In the 2020s, the image processing became more accurate, more efficient and self learning technology. This book highlights the framework of robust and novel methods for medical image processing techniques in 2D & 3D. The book explores existing and emerging image challenges and opportunities in the current medical field using various medical imaging processing techniques. The book discusses real time applications for artificial intelligence and machine learning in medical image processing. The authors also discuss implementation strategies and future research directions for the design and application requirements of such systems. The book will be of benefit researchers in the medical image processing field as well as those looking to promote mutual understanding of researchers within different disciplines incorporating AI and machine learning. The digital images have several benefits such as faster and cheap proc
