Ian Clarke was born and brought up in India. He went to sea with a British shipping company. Subsequently he worked ashore as a marine systems engineer, a lecturer in Nautical Studies and a ship surveyor. He and his wife Monica came to New Zealand in 1982. Ian is an active member of Tauranga Writers' Group and has written fiction set in India and New Zealand. He holds a Master Mariner's certificate, a Bachelor's degree in Nautical Studies and a Master's degree in Mathematics.
